Bessanaises

In the heart of summer, on the edge of the Vanoise National Park in Savoie, the village of Bessans is busy preparing for its August 15th celebrations. Every year, this is an opportunity for the women of Bessans to keep the tradition alive by dressing up in the clothes of their ancestors. The director also this costume from the age of thirteen to twenty. With her camera, during the fittings, she decided to share her thoughts on the meaning of this custom with the other women in the community. In the privacy of their homes, far from tourist clichés, a mosaic of perspectives emerged on the reasons that still drive us to uphold this tradition today.
